My mom and her SO have a 20' Sprinter that they converted into a camper like this. It's seriously livable. It's got solar panels, a shower, a stove, a lil fridge, a fold-out desk, and I am incredibly jealous. It's much nicer when it's a choice and not something you're forced into by capitalism.
Sadly, being forced to live out of a van or something similar is really common in these pricey cities. Low wage workers and their families can't afford an apartment and/or can't get one because of bad credit. It ain't just jobless junkies living in their cars (not that they deserve that treatment either)
"Stragglers in the group Zoom" is the new "10 minutes to closing time."
