This one’s pretty densely packed in, but I guess the escalation works. Hanna was always bound to turn running into an addiction with an end result in mind, the effect of which would diminish over time. The practical solution for this is to escalate the challenge of running, and escalate one’s fitness. But the fact that every white man in Brooklyn looks like Marek means she seeks results too compulsively, and never has time to be satisfied by them. |
I love the “diversity” banner where all the guys in that panel resemble Marek.
I love the joke about how many white dudes are present at the "Diversity" summit.
The Diversity Summit banner is a nice touch.
There are a lot of things about my late 20's/early 30's that Octopus Pie was disturbingly accurate at capturing. The cycle of self care as escape that occurs after a breakup was one of them.
Hanna should be calling the police on that diversity summit, they beat up her dear Will!
The funniest part is that Marek's look still the kind of the go-to look for a lot of white guys in my area. I remember going out with my husband one day (pre-COVID), and we were eating at an A&W when suddenly, he looked around the place at literally every other guy there and asked me, "Am… am I the only one here who *doesn't* look like Zach Galifianakis???"
